I apologize for the picture, I just used my phone. I will eventually use my camera and take REAL pictures of stuff. |
I made homemade chocolate for the first time today! I have made homemade chocolate pudding and hot chocolate, but never just a chocolate bar. It turned out fairly well in my opinion. It was super easy and rather quick. It uses just a few ingredients and for anyone with allergies is a great option! As both myself and my younger sister have a dairy allergy, as well as her sugar allergy, buying chocolate at the store is not really an option.
Here is the recipe.
1 cup coconut oil
1 cup raw cocoa powder (we just had Hershey's cocoa powder, so that is what I used)
1/3 cup honey or maple syrup (I used honey, as we have quite a bit!)
3 teaspoons vanilla
Mix all ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat. Whisk until the sauce is completely smooth. (I did have one little lump of something in mine that I saw once I poured it out.) Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and pour sauce onto the paper. It is going to like super thin and you are going to want to put it into an 8x8 pan, but have faith! Place the cookie sheet in the freezer and allow to freeze solid. It will take a couple of hours. Once it is frozen take it out and you have homemade, allergy safe chocolate!!
*You can substitute cocoa butter for the coconut oil, but I have not done it that way.*
